OOMA (Japanese Food Like Never Before!)Full

OOMA
Japanese Food like Never Before!

Chef Bruce Ricketts (also from Mecha Una at Fort) in collaboration with The Moment Group is responsible for OOMA, the newest Japanese Fusion restaurant located in the Mega Fashion Hall at SM Megamall.

The place is a little small. Better go there early to avoid waiting in line. We went there while it was still on soft opening, but the place was packed. We had to wait for more than an hour before we got seated.

I was told that the interior of the place was inspired by the movie Kill Bill as well as the Tsukiji Market in Japan.

Everything in the menu looked delicious and exciting and I wanted to try them all. Good thing, the waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable about their food so it wasn’t difficult to choose which ones we will all like (Jeff doesn’t like spicy very much).

MAKI

Hamachi
The Hamachi(Php335) was the first dish that got served. It had a refreshing taste.

If you're wondering what that canister is, that's the soysauce. Instead of dipping the maki, you brush it on.

O-GYOZA
The O-Gyoza(Php235) tasted something like the one from Osaka Kosho. It also has mozzarella cheese inside and a bit of chili powder.
SUUUPER GOOOOOD!
The Spicy Tuna Maki(Php245) was really good and was bursting with flavor. It leaves just a little bit of spice in the mouth and the right amount of crunch which leaves you wanting for more.

TEMPURAAAAAAA
The Ebi Tempura (Php385) came in 7pcs per order. It was.. uhm.. drizzled(?).. in seaweed poweder(??) and could be dipped in their Aligue Mayo (OMG!) or tempura sauce.
Frites on Mashed Sweet Potato
The Hanger Steak (Php495) reminded me of the Beef Usuyaki from Kuretake because of the overwhelming flavor of the Shiitake Mushroom. The beef was tasty and the mashed sweet potato balanced the saltiness of the dish.

Check out more of their interesting choices here. (from Zomato).

One thing to remember: They serve UNLIMITED RICE!
Which is why we didn't order rice anymore, but I would like to try the Kamimeshi when I go back.

This area is for those who want to keep it private but its currently unavailable.

HAPPY TUMMIES!

Actual rice and other ingredients they use double as wall designs

OOMA is definitely brings a refreshing twist to our favorite Japanese dishes!
