OOMA (Japanese Food Like Never Before!)Full

OOMA
Japanese Food like Never Before!

Chef Bruce Ricketts (also from Mecha Una at Fort) in collaboration with The Moment Group is responsible for OOMA, the newest Japanese Fusion restaurant located in the Mega Fashion Hall at SM Megamall.

The place is a little small. Better go there early to avoid waiting in line. We went there while it was still on soft opening, but the place was packed. We had to wait for more than an hour before we got seated.

I was told that the interior of the place was inspired by the movie Kill Bill as well as the Tsukiji Market in Japan.
Full House!

Everything in the menu looked delicious and exciting and I wanted to try them all. Good thing, the waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable about their food so it wasn’t difficult to choose which ones we will all like (Jeff doesn’t like spicy very much).

MAKI

Hamachi
The Hamachi(Php335) was the first dish that got served. It had a refreshing taste.

If you're wondering what that canister is, that's the soysauce. Instead of dipping the maki, you brush it on.

O-GYOZA
The O-Gyoza(Php235) tasted something like the one from Osaka Kosho. It also has mozzarella cheese inside and a bit of chili powder.
SUUUPER GOOOOOD!
The Spicy Tuna Maki(Php245) was really good and was bursting with flavor. It leaves just a little bit of spice in the mouth and the right amount of crunch which leaves you wanting for more.

TEMPURAAAAAAA
                        The Ebi Tempura (Php385) came in 7pcs per order. It was.. uhm.. drizzled(?).. in seaweed poweder(??) and could be dipped in their Aligue Mayo (OMG!) or tempura sauce.
Frites on Mashed Sweet Potato
The Hanger Steak (Php495) reminded me of the Beef Usuyaki from Kuretake because of the overwhelming flavor of the Shiitake Mushroom. The beef was tasty and the mashed sweet potato balanced the saltiness of the dish.

Check out more of their interesting choices here. (from Zomato).

One thing to remember: They serve UNLIMITED RICE!
Which is why we didn't order rice anymore, but I would like to try the Kamimeshi when I go back.

This area is for those who want to keep it private but its currently unavailable.

HAPPY TUMMIES!

Actual rice and other ingredients they use double as wall designs

OOMA is definitely brings a refreshing twist to our favorite Japanese dishes!

Tutto Domani! (See you tomorrow!)

TUTTO DOMANI!
(See you tomorrow!)

                 Tutto Domani is a small and unassuming café in the corner of New World Hotel in Makati. It has been there for years but I’ve never noticed it because there’s nothing really flashy about the whole place.
                The place is so small you can even see the kitchen at the back. It kind of reminds me of one of my friend’s kitchen. It gives a relaxing and “homey” vibe.

                There are games around to play with while waiting for your order.
SCRIBBAGE!

I've never solved a Rubiks cube my whole life :))
                You can take “shots” of coffee here.
Mocha Coffee(Php170)
            They serve crepes although don’t expect a full stomach from one.
I wasn’t very impressed by my Salmon and Tuna Crepe(Php120). Maybe because I was expecting smoked salmon inside (a bad assumption basing on its price. lol.). But it wasn't that bad.

The Milk and Choco Powder(Php95) was pretty yummy and sweet.

The Crounds(Php125) are to die for! I would get another order if I were not cutting down on sweets. They're super soft and chewy!

They gave us a free Blueberry Cheesecake because it was our first time there. It was really good too. A perfect ending to our visit.

We were lucky enough to chance upon the co-owner/chef Anthony Yupangco with whom we had a good conversation with (we had so much fun, we didn’t notice we’ve been there for almost 5 hours). He was really friendly and nice.
If you’re in to vinyl art, you can also find some one of a kind toys here.

Design your own Toy!

They also sell books and other cute stuff.

They do serve full meals and I have no doubt they will taste delicious. I'll update this as soon as I give Tutto Domani another visit.

Dinner at Chefs Du Partie

Chefs Du Partie at Rockwell

            Chefs Du Partie or CDP is a partner restaurant of its neighbor Mamou. They seem to have a Parisienne concept going on.
            They have a nice selection of appetizers including salad, soups and cheese. They have some meat available but if you’re looking for steak, they only have Angus Frites available.

            We ordered my favorite French Onion Soup(Php295).
French Onion Soup

            I felt that the cheese was a little burnt and the bread was soaked already. Other than that it was fine. (Bizu still wins in my tastiest French Onion Soups list).
Duck Confit

            The Duck Confit(Php880) was okay. The paella was tasty but the duck leg was a little hard and dry.
Short Rib Poutine

            The Short Rib Poutine(Php990). The meat was really soft. Eat it with the cheese to make it more tasty.
The Triade
            For dessert, we had the Triade(Php455) which was what the waiter recommended. The concept was eating it from light to dark (panna cotta first, then salted caramel, then the pudding) but feel free to eat it however you want to. I personally liked the chocolate pudding the most.

~~~~~
            When the waiter asked us about our food, I just casually said I felt that the onion soup was a little burnt but other than that everything is fine. I looked at his face and I felt like I said something taboo.
             He said he’ll bring it up with the manager, but we said there was no need. It was a mere comment. A few moments later the manager came with a panicked look on her face and asked us about our food again. I said the same thing I said to the waiter and she apologized and her panicked face became even more panicked. (I was getting a bit embarrassed at this point. Maybe I should have just kept my mouth shut). She offered free salad, but we declined and said it was really okay.
            I thought it was over but BAM! A wild owner suddenly appeared!(No she wasn’t wild. That’s a reference to how pokemons suddenly appear out of nowhere). She approached us and asked about the food again. We just said the same thing to her again. Then to our surprise, she took the French Onion Soup off our tab! Woot woot! (At this point, im thinking, maybe we should’ve accepted the salad too. Hehe *greedy face*).
Looks Tasty
Dessert anyone?
Interesting wall art
            It is a really small place, maybe just enough to fit 50 people at most. When we went there, there were only a few tables occupied but I can imagine the place filled up on weekends.
OVERALL: (1-5)
            I would give them a ~4~ just because of their great customer service. The food we had was so-so. It was a little expensive too. A dish will cost at least Php400 or more and the serving is really small. Kudos to their staff though. They were really attentive and knowledgeable about their menu. The ambiance is perfect for a nice date too.
The Café at City Of Dreams
The Café at City Of Dreams
Happy Tummies
The Café is by no means a café. It is actually the buffet place at City of Dreams Manila. It is located at the first floor (yes, inside the Casino area).
The Reception Area
The place can apparently serve over 300 guests at a time AND it’s open 24 hours!
The boyfriend and I arrived around 7:30pm but since we didn’t have a reservation that time and the place was full, we were asked to come back around 8pm.
We were seated in one of their round couches which we’re quite comfy, complete with throw pillows. You can opt to sit on their normal chairs and tables too.
The Food.
They had various cuisines available but the selection is quite limited.
Say Cheese!
Should I get more tempura? or more tempura?
The Sushi Bar
           They have salmon, tuna, yellow tail and squid. They don't have many variations of maki but they are all quite tasty.
Fresh Seafood for Grilling
What's that you got there?
The Carving Station.
I don't know what this is
Getting Seconds
Not food.
I came back for this, not once, not twice BUT THRICE! Then ask Jeff to get more. hehe
Dessert Overload!
The service was not bad. Let’s just say they’re not proactive.
OVERALL.
Their selection is quite limited. There’s much more to be wanted (like oysters!). Their chocolate dessert is great though. You can order some if you want to take them home. It is quite pricey at Php,1,888/dinner but they did not skimp on the quality of food. I doubt anyone would be disappointed.
