Beauty Review: The Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Cassis

The Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Cassis

“Lipstick meets liner for the greatest multi-tasking lip around”. –Bobbi Brown

Bobbi Brown couldn't have said it better. At Php1350 a piece, the Bobbi Brown Art Stick is a little pricey for a lipstick. But then again, it doesn't work just as a lipstick. It can also be used as a lipliner (because it its a pencil) and surprisingly, as a cream blush as well. So you kind of get three products in one.

It reminds me of the jumbo crayons I got way back in grade school.
The stick is about 5 inches long with around 6 grams of product. The shade I got is in Cassis but there are seven other colors available on their site. I got mine from their SM Megamall branch.
Jumbo sharpener for a jumbo pencil.

I am happy it comes with its own sharpener because the pencil is too big for the one I own already. Although I do feel that providing a sharpener for EACH pencil can be wasteful. I hope Bobbi sells the pencil sans the sharpener (so they can minus it from the cost as well).
It comes with a detachable cleaner too for the stuff that gets stuck in the blade.
               Now let's try it on!
me looking like death.

use as cream blush
As a blusher, I simply drew a few strokes on my cheeks around where I want the color to be then blended it with my fingers. Its not that easy to spread the product so start with a little color first then just build it on from there. You can use a foundation or buffing brush to do this.
as blusher and lipstick
Product is now on as lipstick and as blusher. Notice how faint the color is on the cheeks. What I like about Bobbi Brown products is how they seem to always go for that natural, healthy look. *Tip: I occasionally add a little highlight on my cheekbones just to have that slight glow.
HELLO!
I added another layer on my lips to make the color more obvious. I wore this at day time but I can totally imagine the color perfect for night outs too.
OVERALL. I think what really sets this product apart from other lip crayons is its formula. It's quite creamy but dries up to a sort of matte finish on the lips. Its hard enough to act as a lip pencil that does not run, but creamy enough not to dry your lips when applied as lipstick. And it is that creaminess that allows us to use it as a blusher too. What's weird though is that I don't feel that it is there. It is not heavy and it doesn't have that sticky or "glidey" feeling regular non-matte lipsticks have. It won't feel dry after a while too. It definitely is long wearing (Took me a good 6 hours with eating and drinking and lots of talking before I felt that I needed to touch up).
Will I re-purchase this? Maybe. It's a little expensive but the quality is absolutely great. Not to mention it is basically three products rolled in to one!
